Sounds like you are right, I'm thinking some people probably just trash it.

But it would be bad PR. Actually it might not be, it would be refreshing to see a corporation be upfront about a problem like this rather than letting their clients go through the stress you went through.

I was going to suggest you consult with Apple too but since so many other did it was redundant. I melted my daughtercard and thought I was toast, and even though I was grouchy and reluctant to give them my personal info, Apple insisted and ended up replacing it free.

Actually it's one of the first suggestion for iPods with issue is to refresh the software and see if that fixes the issue.

I actually based my suggestions as to what you should do based on the input you gave us about your issue. Guess I should have suggested you try a refresh when you first presented us with the problem.
