Skeeter, the democratic party ruled the south after the Civil War and during the Jim Crow era of " separate but equal" segregation and many hundreds of lynchings. Senator Robert Byrd was a klan member. President Wilson would not allow blacks to hold civil service jobs. FDR kept the US military segregated during WWII. The democrats would like to forget their shameful history on race relations and demonize the republicans to cover their past.
