It's counter intuitive to think over heating is a software problem. Still I'm in wait and see mode... remember it was 5 days between incidences.

True but first line of defense is always refresh the unit.

Let us know how it goes, and thanks for posting your experiences so far.

I have a friend who is having short battery life problems with her iPhone 3G, I'll suggest she do the same procedure with hers and see if that fixes it.
