china is in effect saying:

(1) china wants the gold, but can either buy it on open market after imf spooks it with "sell!" or buy at volume discount willingly suffered by imf, both ways result in same china getting more gold at discount to supposed market price

(2) imf can spook the market, spoil future sales, go get stuffed, or

(3) sell gold to china on 'negotiated basis' and offer china more formal say, and spin the sordid dealings as global win-win cooperation

(4) but, either way, china will have the gold at discount to market

(5) let no one forget the totally unrelated issue of the derivative contracts to be cratered

now, imf-usa, tell china what the discount will be? and think before answering, debtor.

that would be how i would play the game :0)
