In May 2009 it was reported that Cabbage looper caterpillars (Trichoplusia ni) can alter the expression of genes associated with metabolism, homeostasis and immunity after feeding on plants carrying bacteria. Research published in BioMed Central's Frontiers in Zoology has shown that, as well as tailoring gene expression within their own digestive systems, the insects are able to pass this information along to their offspring. This would appear to be an instance of Lamarckian evolution.

better do more research on this evolution thighy. all the variables aren't know. well that's how science works. But you wouldn't know that
