But yet the govt assures US that everything is just fine, or going to be fine if it isn't fine just yet.

There is a total disconnect between perception and reality,
a cognitive dissonance, if you will.

I don't think people are expecting a rough landing for the economy, as they have bought into the hopium coming out of Washington.
