I take it you haven't moved a tranche of gold to safety deposit boxes in London then. Your scuba-accessible stashes might be better, dotted along in an escape route to Cook Islands, Norfolk Island, or somewhere nice.

Hmmm, I should check Google Latitude to see where you have been, so I can take a metal detector to anywhere you have spent some time wearing scuba gear. Or maybe just a shovel would be all I'd need.

Gold does seem to lend itself to thievery. The Spaniards made a profession of it with Pizarro the bizzaro murdering his way with his cuzzy Cortes to gobs of gold in the Inca and Aztec realms. Hong Kong is quite a congested little place with no visible means of support, so stacks of ingots would be very tempting to people in the event of Maoistic mania returning, which happens everywhere from time to time, especially when problems are rife and wealth is evident.
