Saturday I spoke to a sharp looking young man with a buzz cut at a community yard sale in support of the high school band. I asked if he was military. "No sir, but my Dad is and next year I'm joining up." "Well," I said, "you take care of yourself. We don't want to be losing any young people like you." I didn't want to tell him that half his ungrateful nation would one day curse what he did and then parade around in fancy dresses at memorial services for the fallen. I have an exceptionally tough time with these deaths too. It's a personal reason which I don't think is appropriate to discuss.
