I get the bridge sign analogy. There is a warning, presumably a true one, if you proceed anyway you determine your own fate and the sign is then ultimately validated for you. Who determines which signs are true and which are not. Certainly it would not be wise to make that presumption every time a sign is thrown up. Another sign says, 'here is a safe bridge' and you look and see a new paint job, then woops the bridge collapses. Some signs are not true. Scripture is full of doctrine that has been 'interpreted' as signs that must be followed. You must have declared John 3:16 say some, you must have been Babtised by water say others, you must use a particular name for God, or follow a particular form of bowing, scraping, or humbling yourself during prayer etc etc.

He said, you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do...so I took my hair from under my hat and said, Imagine that me a workin for you ... signs signs everywhere a sign blockin out the scenery breakin my mind... youtube.com
So I made up my own little sign. I said, "thank you dear Lord for think'n bout me I'm alive and doin fine."

Truth is on the one hand absolute in the ideal sense but in application to circumstance or perspective each situation is unique. Application of law is essential for an ordered society but societally applied consequences fall short of perfect justice every time. It is a hopeless endeavor in and of itself to even attempt to have justice prevail in this existence. Doctrine whether religous or otherwise is not enough, which is beneath the wisdom of the quote, 'Be ye therefore the living word'. You must have both, an idea of the truth and a valid application in real life experience. Same with any truthful saying, you may have an expert command of physics laws but not be able to strike the eight ball with the cue ball, with out having had some experience. So actual knowledge of what works comes with some ideas that seem true and then are confirmed through life experiences, and consequently a genuine belief system also known as wisdom. We don't find too many wise adolescents and there is a reason for that.

When it comes to justice, attempting to live a noble life based on principle has no foundation exept in the belief that justice does prevail in a perfect sense on some plain, usually thought of as beyond the wholeness of temporal time. Often times what people are taught/indoctrinated to believe will be a righteous life does not lead to well being. It instead plays out as bigotry or oppression.

The chaotic circumstance of this life is full of paradox and irony. Let your concience, therefore, be your guide as to which signs are applicable according to circumstance and which should be discarded.
