U.S. Stocks Fall, Led by Computers, on Asian
Slowdown Concern

U.S. stocks fell as investors sold computer shares on concern those companies'
earnings will be hurt by a slowdown in Asia and intensifying competition. A slump in
Intel Corp. and Dell Computer Corp. drove the Nasdaq Composite Index down
16.35, or 1.1 percent, to 1585.87. The Russell 2000 index, the benchmark for
smaller stocks, was also hit hard, falling 4.06, or 0.9 percent, to 430.81. The Dow
Jones Industrial Average fell 55.00, or 0.7 percent, to 7453.63.
