The right wing is definitely anti intellectual. And they are making us vulnerable to the Chinese and Japanese and other nations who value academic achievement and honor their achievers. When Steven Chu, nobel price winning physcist and Obama's secretary of energy (Bush appointed a dentist)went to China they treated him like a rock star. He commented on it. How are we to compete with the world if the rest of the world is educating academic superstars and we are making fun of ours? How are we to compete with the rest of the world in things like modern warfare, quantum encryption which is needed to safeguard our missles from quantum computers, and modern technology in general, if we are actively making fun our our scientists and dumbing down the nation?
