The thing that mystifies me is that the ACLU won't endorse the Second Amendment's applicability. Any other Bill of Rights issue they'll defend on pure principle, regardless of how contrary to "common sense" the instance might be. But guns... mum's the word. Guys...?

Skipper, when the Second Amendment was written, almost everyone carried a weapon. I think the world is far different now. There are many interpretations of what the writers originally meant, and I am going to have to study this in more depth to say anything very intelligent about it. Obviously, government weapons systems are so much more vast that any thought of defending freedom seems a little absurd.

On the other hand, in this political climate repealing the amendment doesn't seem very likely!!!!!!!
