I thought it was a very interesting article, (& set of speculations), drawing from the very latest polling results but also indicative of what we have seen over the very long-term in our national polls: a steady multi-decade-long shift AWAY from registration or identification with EITHER branch of the "Republi-crats".

Polls give no real evidence for any "Realignment" favoring either Democrat *or* Republican Parties... but in fact clearly show a "Dealignment" is what's going on.

INDEPENDENTS are the largest political grouping in American politics today... and this Washington Post/ABC poll shows that 43 percent of voters are labeling themselves as independents now.
