he employs about 30 illegals. He's a legal Mexican immigrant and "sponsors" them

He probably pays them less than he'd have to if they were citizens and is basically using them to enrich himself. Modern version of slavery in a way.

We already have agricultural visas for temporary farm workers but the usa only gives out about 50,000 a year. The core issue is knowing who they are via a visa process with real ID provided back in Mexico - we have enough criminals of our own already - don't need to import them.

Why our politicians refuse to take up the issue of making them legal via visas is stunning - they keep ignoring the issue or attempt to make them all legal for a few years until the problems becomes large enough to do another amnesty.

I have a building contractor that lives next to me - he employs about 30 illegals. He's a legal Mexican immigrant and "sponsors" them. They ALL pay income tax, which he deducts from their pay and sends to the government - so HE won't get in trouble.

You don't sponsor illegals dumb ass. To sponsor them is a way of getting legal aliens to work for you at below minimum wage. It is basically a legal way of getting cheap labor. The income tax thing has the problem of hiking up the labor price somewhat, but at least there is no trouble with the law.

However, some illegals sometimes get mixed in, but they are not the ones paying income tax.
