Boucher said he saw a ''troubling trend'' in Intel's October bookings and microprocessor unit shipments.

''With October winding down, our industry checks indicate that microprocessor unit demand has not shown any meaningful
improvement versus the previous quarter,'' he said. ''This is a troubling trend, since Q4 is ususally a period in which unit
demand is relatively strong.''

region this quarter, and slowing PC consumption there would likely translate into reduced worldwide growth in the fourth
quarter and through 1998.
