(Subsequent efforts to deploy - depending on the politics of the day - might actually be easier... or not.) Also, (as far as the Iranian threat goes), the ship-mounted Aegis systems should actually give a more effective counter-measure... at least as far as this current generation of Iranian short and mid-range missiles goes. And, there is no reason why that can't be increased with additional 'layers' at a later date... if necessary.
