Science, learning, knowledge are "liberal", if not socialist or even communist! They are to be suspected and distrusted.

Koan, > Why are only 6% of scientists Republican and 81% lean democratic?

Link a source and I'll give you my "explanation."

By the way, are engineers included? How about doctors? Pharmacists? Meteorologists? Other professionals who deal with the practical application of science on a regular basis?

Real easy to just pick-n-choose theorists who you want to include as part of the "scientific community" when you exclude those who don't conform to your atheistic view of the world.

>> I am curious as to how you explain, or interpret that statistic.

It is easily explained. Most scientists have extensive associations with universities, which are the most liberal institutions in America.

Why are they liberal? Because they don't work. They're teachers. They're students. They know SHIT about real life. They don't have to make payrolls. They don't have any responsibility other than to show up. Hell, the teachers can't even be fired in most situations.

Universities -- and the scientific community -- are chocked full of half-educated individuals. People who have the academic underpinnings but who have no practical experience in doing the things that make society work.

Consider if the major corporations in America were managed by university teachers. You'd have an absolute disaster. I cannot imagine, for example, one of my old finance or business policy professors trying to run the typical small business. They wouldn't last ten minutes.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.
