This sounds like a way to put a gun to our heads -- if the Fed goes down, it will take our money market funds with them. There really would be (nearly) no place to hide. And for most 401k type plans, they would eliminate the last hidey-hole.

Interesting timing. The gov't guarantee on money market funds established during the "past crisis" expired last Friday.
