GST, that's a tough one. i happen to agree with BC that the american value system is all screwed up and that no single person can fix it.

based on your other post to me, you feel the same way.

i think this is different than "hating america," though.

i do agree with you that we ought to be focused on improving what we can - starting with ourselves and trying to help others.

i'm not sure both views are mutually exclusive, though.

america (and the world!) is screwed over and nothing we do can change it. but we can try and live our lives to a higher standard - if for no other reason than the general principle of desiring to be a better person.

i believe happiness comes with that pursuit.

i have no opinion on co2 and its impact on the climate b/c i don't believe a link has been proven and the government just wants $1700 per family per year in extra taxes.

for example, the glaciers on mars are melting at an alarming rate - and this is obviously not caused by co2 emissions on earth.

not to mention that the earth has been cooling over the last 10 years when we've dumped an amazing amount of co2 into the atmosphere. this is contrary to every single global warming model 10 years ago.

that's why they call it "climate change" instead of global warming."

i also don't believe al gore believes what he says - if he did, he wouldn't pollute as much as he does. he's made many millions of dollars peddling his theories, though, and runs from any kind of debate on the issue - that invariably a sign of complete weakness.

"In my book he should consider himself of little value to move things forward as he has already provided himself with a reason to say "its hopeless, so why bother doing anything"

That would put you in the camp of the 99%(I'll let you chose whether it's the ignorant or fat n happy camp.

As I've posted on SI for years, we live totally off the grid and have for over 10 years.

How about you?
