And folks wonder why Applecare is necessary.

Completely agree, Murrey. I had a minor malfunction in an iPhone which couldn't be solved in telephone talks with the Apple support staff. So they shipped me, next day, a new iPhone. I shipped the old one back.

But the downside, at least for our aging Mac fleet, is that you can't get Apple Care for your computer after it hits the ripe old age of 3.

I purchased the extended care for my iPhone. Lo and behold, at 1 year minus 6 days my iPhone died. Walked it into the Apple store. Walked out with a new phone and on top of that, the new phone had a full 12 months of warranty. Now there's a deal!
