Just got this from Infobeat:
Rockwell International Corp. is reportedly developing a modem that can deliver data
over a plain old telephone line up to 20 times as fast as does a 56K modem, the Wall
Street Journal reported. users will, however, need what's described as a "slightly
improved type of telephone service," at a cost higher than regular service, the report
said. Rockwell is researching a "consumer digital subscriber line device," the report
said. It hopes the announcement will influence the International Telecommunications
Union, which sets global communications-device standards, the Journal report said.
