'Will an $1,800/per year/per family tax really "change" anything?'

No... it will continue (or escalate) the wealth transfer to the elite. Without it, the mechanisms which have worked so well in the past 12 years or so will wither and die for lack of further participation by the unemployed masses.

My life was like yours when I lived in Hawaii -- minus flying 20k per month. I walked and road a bike although I had both a car and a motorcycle, and I had almost no electricity use as I neither heated nor cooled my house and I air dried clothes. With a small effort I could have gone of the grid. Living like that in almost all other cities in America is a monumental challenge compared to living in Hawaii.

If you object to specific polices great -- just don't quit on the other 99.9 percent of us who do not live in Hawaii.
