Growing unemployment and hard economic times keep increasing the numbers of uninsured people? That is still no reason for a Great Leap Left.

Here is an off the cuff quick idea - after some simple means testing, offer those who lost jobs Medicaid. Continue those benefits even after the person runs out of benefits, until they find a new job - and better insurance.

I'm sure there are other ways of approaching this issue as well... without letting the government go parabolic.

The entire issue has me rather puzzled, almost fascinated - since when is it that Americans came to despise profits and developed this profound faith in the wisdom of the Capitol Hill politicians?
