Another nit. Before Snow my Airport Extreme talked to my laptop without problem. Snow made that more challenging. I now have to turn off my speaker system to allow my laptop access to the internet.

Wow.. that's a terrible nit!

Any idea why that would be the case? Is the speaker run from the SnowLeopard desktop coming out of the Extreme? or is it wireless somehow? I'm not too up on running my new home wireless. I have an extreme running it and Leopard laptops, but i would not want upgrading the SnowLeopard OS to give that trouble.

Murrey -

This is clearly a case of interference between the WiFi radio and the transmitter/receiver in the speakers. There may be a fairly simple solution.

Current models of the Airport Extreme, and those going back for a while, are capable of using either the 2.4GHz radio frequency or 5GHz. That's configurable using the Airport Utility.

Whatever yours is set on now, try setting it to the other. Or if it's set to use both (which I believe may be the default), set it to use only 5GHz. Then if that doesn't work, use only 2.4GHz. I'd bet that your problem will go away.
