longnshort,

where have you been?

the 1st amendment still remains, however, it has been re-interpreted, and talking about impending legislation is not, i repeat is not, listed in the first amendment and from this day onward is strictly forbidden by obama.

there will be no discussing impending legislation except by obama and friends as is clearly provided by obamas first amendment rights.

Re: "He [Baucus] accused Humana of sending a letter to beneficiaries that raised the prospect of elderly Americans losing the benefits of Medicare Advantage policies. The legislation, Mr. Baucus insisted, “does not include cuts to Medicare benefits.”

Yeah, so?

Medicare ADVANTAGE are private policies, (issued by insurance companies), that 'supplement' (add to) basic Medicare coverage.

Companies selling 'Medicare Advantage' policies are also recipients of tens of Billions of taxpayer dollars in DIRECT FEDERAL SUBSIDIES... 'corporate welfare' in other words.

But they are *not* "Medicare policies".

The Big insurance companies are afraid of losing their corporate welfare --- which goes a long way to fattening their bottom lines.

(I don't 'blame' them for this --- most ANYBODY receiving tens of Billions of taxpayer subsidies would be expected to fight like pit bulls, employ most any dirty trick it thinks it can get away with, to *keep* it's corporate welfare. <g>)

Why, Hell! This could amount to a hundred Billion dollars of subsidies to them in only a decade or two.... :-)
