"FREMONT, Calif. -February 27, 1997- SyQuest Technology, Inc.(NASDAQ:SYQT) today announced a radically advanced removable cartridge storage technology-the Rockett platform-expected to be incorporated into certain future SyQuest products by year end... it is anticipated that the first product of the Rocket platform will sustain a maximum data transfer rate of 10.6 MB per second, an average seek time of 11 msec and a 2-MB intelligent cache buffer..."
I went syqt homwpage and find this old news. I suppose this is the product syqt'll show at comdex. It competes with std HD head-on. Syjet(1.5GB) sells at $299/$99 for drive/cartridge now. One can get a 4.3GB for less than $300 (due to mass production). There is little room for syqt to price this rocket and being profitable.(ws)
