Anyone that thinks a Sarah Palin merits high office has lost any credibility with me.

I agree about that; and anyone who thinks that Obama merits high office has lost any credibility with me.

I don't think Palin would have made a better (or worse) president than Obama. But I do think McCain would have done far better for the American people. He is a moderate, and what we're dealing with now is left-wing extremism the likes of which the country has never seen and cannot afford.

The health care debate has disintegrated because the proposition is so extreme that half the country simply cannot live with what he's wanting to do. Had he tried to fix the problems instead of instituting a new social program he might well have made progress.

Now, we're faced with a very real possibility that NOTHING meaningful gets done.

Add to that the mess he has made in foreign policy -- Israel and the Palestinians now cannot even come to the negotiating table because of Obama's actions. Iran is ramping up its nuclear programs. Afghanistan has been "put on hold".

It is a mess. McCain and Palin could hardly have done worse.

we have to be like China for a day

It's not going to happen this way. If Uncle Sam pays the bills, he'll feel like he should continue to be in charge. If we agree to be China for a day, we'll remain China forever.

Gotto fix problems by other means, not by government dictate. Tort reform combined with deregulation (and government getting out of the way) - might work.

People working with people (market forces) create value and quality. Government creates inefficiency, expensive bureaucracies, crappy quality - and mess. Also, not to forget - dependency and loss of freedom.

there is not much difference between people that go into business or people that run for elected office. They can both be equally incompetent.

The difference is that businesses flush out the incompetent while government promotes theirs.

The federal government bankrupted the social security and medicare systems. Does anyone really think they would run the healthcare system well?
