Wavephore Signs Satellite Network Contract With Telenor; Will Provide
Data Broadcasting System for Financial Information, Stock Quotes

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- WavePhore Networks, a division of WavePhore, Inc. (Nasdaq:WAVO)
announced today it has received a major purchase agreement from Telenor, Norway's government-owned telecommunications
giant, to provide a satellite data broadcast network which will transmit financial news and stock quotes to more than 500 sites
across Europe. The network will support SIX AB, a venture of the Bonnier Group. The network is scheduled to be operational
by the end of the fourth quarter 1997 and total revenue to WavePhore for the project is expected to be more than $600,000.

Telenor selected WavePhore Networks as the data network equipment supplier for its new SCPC satellite system because of
WavePhore's significant experience in providing similar solutions for other satellite-based financial data networks. WavePhore
currently provides similar data networks for Shenzhen Securities, the People's Republic of China's largest securities exchange;
Reuters, a leading worldwide provider of financial and general news; Agencia Estado, Brazil's largest financial publishing firm,
and other leading financial information companies in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

''We are very pleased to be working with Telenor in support of this new data network,'' said Scott Calder, President of
WavePhore Networks, Inc. ''Telenor has the expertise and the right combination of technical and satellite resources to make
this network operate efficiently and at optimum performance. Together with the WavePhore's proprietary statistical multiplexing
and variable bit rate receiver system, Telenor is now very well positioned to support data broadcast applications for Sweden's
financial industry.''

As part of the agreement, Telenor will use WavePhore's latest and most advanced SCPC data broadcast product, the IDR
V1000 variable bit rate receiver. The IDR V1000 is capable of transmitting data at numerous intervals from 64kbps to
2,048kbps, allowing for cost effective and dynamic capacity upgrades as network requirements increase. The network will use
the WavePhore StatMux and Time Division Multiplexor systems, to provide further efficiency and flexibility in transmitting
various data. The network can also be upgraded to deliver data directly to a customer LAN via an Ethernet port using TCP/IP
or UDP.

''The two key criteria in our selecting WavePhore as the equipment supplier and partner for this network are the demonstrated
experience WavePhore has with similar financial networks together with the technical advantages, such as flexibility of data
rates and transmission protocols, that provide an excellent platform for growth as our customers expand their services,'' said
Anders Gynning, Managing Director for Telenor Satellite Services in Sweden.

Telenor Satellite Services AS, the leading satellite telecommunications network provider in Scandinavia, has significant
experience in operating and providing satellite networks, including current ownership and operations of the THOR satellites and
substantial ownership and operation of Intelsat transponders and facilities.
