Junk food and fast food and sodas are taxed- if you are in to sin taxes, and diet.

Poor diet is different than weight. You need to differentiate. And probably, from a public health perspective, the most important change we could make would be to get everyone up to safe levels of vitamin D. That would immediately increase our national productivity, and I think it would dramatically change the rate of MRSA infections- which I suspect are on the rise partly because of the very low immune function of so many in our population. It also has implications for diabetes and heart disease- and weight regulation.

I mean if you are serious about public health, go after the easy stuff. Get people to take vitamin D. Tax or restrict high fructose corn syrup- since it is basically poison, and get kids eating right in school. After that you can go after the more difficult issues of home lifetyle changes. But punishing people who are heavy? That's just a recipe for hate. I'm not sure why folks want to sow hate and division in our society. If you are interested in "health" I can't say I think your way is a healthy way to go about it.
