I listened to country music.......west coast style, not hillbilly stuff from the ozarks (not that there is anything wrong with that. I do like to reflect on the root of things, growing up and understand where we've come from because of where we've been) but second string stuff by the Rawhide singer and even earlier + the Everly Brothers on forward. Growing up in the '50s and '60s was really neat until the Beatles came along and changed everything. It all got so nonsensical and intrusively personal. Instead of love ballads we were inundated with songs about the sorrow of getting stoned, or not getting what we want or our ear drums were nearly ruined by "artists" ruining their guitar. I really didn't care much for that new wave, although I really loved the Beach Boys. Chubby Checker brought our family together for an instant doing the twist.

Like you, I'd rather listen to someone that speaks English.......well.
