Kenneth, where did you travel to to see the many Japanese?
At pre-war WWII, 88.5% of all Japanese lived in three coastal states. The 1950 Minnesota census was 65% of the 1960 census so that brings about a total of 1100 Japanese living in Minnesota at that time. The greatest percentage of males were unmarried at that time and hence you would not see many children.

Something does not make sense with your memory. Help us out...

tonto, immediately after the war, I saw many Japanese.
