What do you think of people who look to the government/society to take care of others who can't take care of themselves... through no fault of their own?

I have no problem with helping those people out and using government as a conduit toward that end.

The problem, of course, is that we now have half the households in the country RECEIVING more federal dollars than they PAY. Obviously, an untenable position for the country to be in. And THAT is before the insane spending the current administration is doing now and proposing for the next 10 years.

Maybe the best example is unemployment insurance. A permanent disincentive to work. Instead of finding the best work you can get, the incentive is to sit on your ass until the money runs out, which apparently, it doesn't. It is an utterly absurd proposition.

Helping people is one thing. Allowing them to build a life around nonproductive activity is something else altogether.
