Health care in the US and climate control ..... These problems can not be left to market forces.

I'm not convinced about what used to be called global warming. If I were a believer, I'd agree with you that it would be a project which the government should lead. I am more of a believer in Peak Oil and future global energy problems -- but so far our government ain't very interested.

Healthcare, I think, is different. Government should play a role in helping provide a basic safety net. Other than that, it should stay out.

For three decades the dominant political ideology in America has extolled private enterprise and denigrated government, but there are problems that can only be addressed through government action. Health care in the US and climate control in the world have reached alarming tipping points.

For three decades the rate of growth of government has exceeded that of the economy. Your statement is false.

The global warming hysteria has been disproven. The sacred Hockey Stick that nearly 100% of "scholarly" papers "proving" man made global warming crisis has now been 100% debunked. You can start here:

Doing nothing is not tenable.

Doing the wrong thing based on hysteria over nothing is a very bad idea.

These problems can not be left to market forces.

Trusting government who have bankrupted Social Security and Medicare is a fool's errand.

We have to be able to consider solutions that have not been tried before.

Then let businesses do it. Government is good at plodding. Businesses take risks and fail when it is a bad idea. In government bad ideas get enshrined and grow in mammoth bad ideas.
