That's why I think he tried to rush through legislation before the opposition had a chance to mount any resistance. That didn't work out, which suggests that Obama underestimated the opposition. It doesn't necessarily follow. "Politics ain't beanbag", you try a bunch of different angles. Health care reform is about the hardest thing to get done... when it passes everything will change. He'll be seen as a political genius. Of course all the opposition will probably make it a crappy, watered down bill.
