Doesn't it bother you at all that we know, empirically, that when you raise taxes from where we currently are you will (a) very likely reduce total tax collections, and (b) you will have a negative effect on economic growth?

When we know these things, how can you suggest with a straight face more tax increases (particularly, considering that we're facing massive tax increases next year from expiration of the Bush cuts)?
