Could someone explain this line to me from SYQT Consolidated Balance sheet:

< Other liabilities and stockholders' equity (deficit) 24,681 (9,190) >

It seems to be saying that the stockholder's equity is at most .46/shr (24,681,000/53,806,000) and also seems to saying that last year, either stockholder's had negative equity, or they had negative liabilities (i.e. assets).
What gives?

Help!!! Would someone please explain how . . .

Syquest goes up $.75 after the earnings announcement. Is the entire world stupid or is it just me? That was a horrible report, wasn't it?

Were people just fooled by the per share loss numbers? Or, am I missing something here?

Gary, many buy SYQT for the same reason they buy other homeopathic remedies. Faith. Irrational blind faith. But I suspect you are correct too that many are fooled by the -EPS dilution.

SYQT has momentum from it's last runup. Like it or not, that stock is in favor. Rocky was correct in this. Of course we all know what will eventually happen to it (again). Most stocks these days have to "show me the money" to stay in the street's good graces. SYQT just has to tell them a good story.

Common and common equivalent shares used in computing per-share amounts:

09/30/96 12.3 M
09/30/97 53.8 M

The actual number of common shares outstanding at Sept. 30, 1997,
was 59.9 million shares.

The actual number of common shares outstanding at Oct. 17, 1997,
was 68.3 million shares.

At the end of last Q, what was it? 40M?
And how many are authorized? 120M?
