<io>defending that puny opposition strikes me as pitiful.

From outright lies? I-node is correct to state facts to refute the lies being posted by Mary.

However, the criticism wasn't anywhere near strong enough to be effective and it should have been. Why it wasn't, I don't know. I consider that facilitation of Bush to be a critical failure of the right although I don't know exactly whom to blame.

While it is clearly incorrect to say there was no opposition, defending that puny opposition strikes me as pitiful.

Well, probably no amount of opposition to Bush would have changed this. Congress was at the trough. But he didn't have to sign any of it into law.

OTOH, Bush's experience had been with a Democrat legislature in Texas that really, really liked him and they worked with him. The Democrats in DC could never quite get over the fact that he won the election, and fought him at every turn. As a result, Bush tried to buy their love by signing into law some big-spending turkeys. At least, that's what I think happened.

At any rate, it now seems small by comparison to what Obama is doing and that Bush would be criticized by the Left for his spending strikes me as hilarious.

And on the power issue, it is an utterly ridiculous statement against Bush given Obama's actions in the last several months.
