The democrats are working to disenfranchise the elderly by reducing their benefits.

There are countervailing forces at work. Mandatory insurance is redistribution from the young to the elderly. Hard to say which way the scales tip. Personally, I don't care much. I oppose redistribution on principle. Just pointing out that, for those who are into tracking winners and losers, the redistribution cuts both ways.

And, of course, since Medicare is a government single-payer health "insurance" system, the government is free to disenfranchise at will. With ObamaCare, that freedom will extend beyond the old and poor to everyone.

Note: Might want to be careful about using the word, "disenfranchise." It's use implies that government provided health care is a right.
