Yes indeed, just look at what happened when Eygpt killed all their pork.

After killing all of the pigs, Egypt faces trash problem nytimes.com.

Earlier in the year, Egyptian government decided to kill all of the pigs in a misguided effort to combat swine flu, they never realized the outcome of their actions.

Well now the outcome is clearly visible on the trash ridden streets of Cairo, as the Egyptian Christians minority, known as 'zabaleen', stopped collecting trash from Egyptian households, as their pigs were culled during the government sponsored operation.

Zabaleen would usually collect the trash, for feeding their pigs, but since they have no use of the trash right now they have stopped collecting trash from households, prompting other Egyptians to trash out their garbage all over the streets.
