Allen, Let me know what you think after you use the driving GPS... but I'll probably own it by then.

I also just got a new app called Red Laser, which uses the iPhone camera to scan a product's barcode, then looks up prices for the product online. For two bucks that seems like it would be very useful, and the reviews are all quite positive.

I have an app called snaptell that is similar. Just works with CDs and DVDs, but you photograph the cover and it comes back with the title and prices. I've used it with some really obscure titles and it's never failed; they must have a heck of a database. I think it was a free app.

I see people at rummage sales scanning books and cds. I looked into it and the devices were several hundred, plus a monthly subscription.

$2 sounds reasonable to me.
