The reality is that this stuff is systemic and a sign of a growing international problem.

Actually it seems to be a decreasing International problem. And not a new one.

"I'm sure a "stud" like you chooses not to live in fear"

Right you are, buddy. My life on 9/12 continued on as if it was 9/10, with not ONE THOUGHT that a terrorist was likely to blow me up. Which, they weren't. As I watched the towers come down, my thoughts went to how we were going to over-react to that masterpiece of terrorism. I thought Bush might even nuke somebody, while idiots like you cheered.

Give Osama his due, it WAS a masterwork. The entire reactive Bush adminsitration with it's dual dumb wars was the result, along with millions of Americans that think like Dave and you. Too bad we didn't have a thinking, reflective, DEEP president at the time. Osama and his very few minions did a juijitsu move on a giant, and threw it for a loop.

I suggest you do the same. I thought you were against the "nanny state", yet, you seem to want it to protect you from EXTREMELY low probability dangers.
