The power to regulate interstate commerce includes the power to regulate an industry which is 1/6th of our national economy.

Incorrect, Congress is only allowed to regulate the interstate commerce part of the industry and only in the context of preventing states from passing laws that would discriminate against interstate commerce.

In fact, this is something that the Federal government should have protected against with health insurance. Congress should have been protecting us against the laws that prevent us from buying insurance across state lines. Not enabling them.

Go ahead, do some research on this...

PRINCETON, NJ -- In a recent Gallup survey, 89% of Republicans, 64% of independents, and 61% of Americans overall say Americans themselves -- rather than the government -- have the primary responsibility for ensuring that they have health insurance. Six in 10 Democrats say the government should be primarily responsible.
