Being totally honest, I could be persuaded to support single payer. But not until I see government run should a program effectively.

If they REALLY want a single payer system, the way to get it is to fix the problems with Medicare then come to the public and say, "Look at what we've done. We took this turkey and turned it into something."

Then, some of us who have dealt with government (and specifically Medicare) might think, "Hey, they did it right" and get onboard with it.

But don't come to us and say, "Look at the mess we've made of Medicare, and we can fix it by taking over the REST of health care". It is an insult to the public's intelligence.

all this is not so much about healthcare as it is about power and politics.
