I've held NRID for some time, though I post here infrequently. But the issue of patents just turned up, no pun intended, and I do have some experience in this area working for a "soaper" formulating and processing consumer products. Because these products "turnover" about as fast as technology (since advertising is technology driven), I believe patents might have the same impact in my industry as with biometrics. Given that, I will state that patents behave like mines, protecting the "Big Guys" from an invading novel product to replace their own. But these mines are also plainly obvious, so they can be circumvented, but that takes work of the R&D type. I seriously doubt any intelligent R&D manager would commercialize any of this technology if they knew they were covered by an existing patent. I believe the comparison of NRID with IDX are a little hard to make directly, cause one is more engaged in the commercialization of law enforcement approved security systems, and the other is "cocooning" on the concept of leading in "code". or software. But what does spinning software buy you? A worked out solution, adequate for typical "access" situations that don't require "approval". That substance can fuel speed to market. For hospitals, and Health Clubs, and what ever else will come along to popularize this technology. It could come from bicycle locks or dating services. I'm hanging on. And willing to offer other possible applications at certain stock price inflections to soothe my worried wallet.

Good Luck
