He is obviously mistaking "rights" for guarantees. The government as you explained to him does not impede your natural rights. They did not grant them, they accepted that the are human rights and you stated correctltly the government is not to infringe upon them without due process.

I suppose next he will state that he cannot pursue happiness without a yacht.

LOL...when I read your first paragraph I thought, "hmmmm, I believe he may have me on that one"..

I thought my logic was little shaky when I wrote that in the first place.

I think government DOES have a place. They just have to be COMPETENT when they are in that place.

LAX regulation and oversight gave us Bernie Madoff and the banking mess.
