I am sitting here at work and day dream about this "semen" deal. Eureka! I think I have found the answer. It doesn't make sense that Sandisk is going to be present at this press conference just to hear Siemens and other large telecom companies announcing that they're going to use Sandisk's flash chip in their cell phones or pagers. Just like Compaq is not going to have a conference to announce that they will use Micron or TI DRAM chip in their PCs. Plus there isn't much room inside a pager or a cell phone (the new Motorola and Qualcom cell phones are quite small and fit inside your shirt pocket) to include a flash card, and there is no need to replace the flash memory inside a cell phone or pager either (unlike digital cameras).

So my guess is that the telecom companies will announce some kind of standard to embed a flash chip (Sandisk's type of course) inside the pager or cell phone microprocessor to provide some kind of new applications. For instance, you have to buy a certain type of cell phone to use with a cell phone company and it won't work with other cell phone companies. With this flash, may be you can encode enough info that you can use the same cell phone with any cell phone provider. May be you can use the flash to store a code to encrypt your message, so nobody can eavedrop on your conversation.

Another of my day dream application is that the cell phone companies can broadcast some messages to everyone (for instance stock price). If your cell phone or pager contains the decoding key inside the flash, then you can listen to the message, otherwise you can't.

Of course, we can wait til next Wednesday to know what it's all about but I like to day dream.

Mauro

I buy and sell on technical basis only....I try to trade on a daily basis
and not hold overnight. I bought SNDK last weak at 30, sold at 32.
I got in again on Monday(crash) and could not get out with out taking a big lss (which is now bigger)
I am only trying to get some information to justify for myself why I should continue to hold SNDK or take my loss now
