>>I guess you don't abide by the Old Testament much. One of the most popular stories of the bible is Noah's Ark, which despite its appeal to children, is the tale of a vengeful god who wipes out every living thing on land, except Noah and the ark of animals. <<

i agree on a human level in my own context. i believe that would make us both wrong.

god is eternal. he effectively calls our current incarnation "dust." while you and i would intuitively disagree with this assessment, i believe we are wrong. this life is temporary and only important in as much as we learn that selfishness leads to ultimate destruction.

put in context, god *temporarily* ended the lives of very evil people who were bent on doing very evil things (see ezekiel 37 when he raises people from the dead and they learn to live in harmony in the knowledge of the goodness of god). they will be resurrected again into a much better life. effectively, god shortened their torture in this life - i believe this is a kindness in the right perspective. think along the lines of going to bed early to make x-mas morning come more quickly.

i can say that on an intellectual level and i completely believe it, but i'm with you, i wouldn't want to be part of that disaster as it was occurring.

nor would i like to be a part of the disaster that looks to be looming ahead. but, hey, i'm not giving any orders. ;-)

<<<Not exactly loving and forgiving>>>

certainly not "love" in the way that you (and many a man like you) understand it.

but, as many so often question on this thread, WTF do you know?

I guess you live a conflicted life. -g-

As an attorney, doesn't something inside you think dispensing justice is a necessary part of structured society?

Dispensing justice does not make one(even God) a sadist.
