bentway, i agree on true christianity - it is so tough nobody does a good job at it, even those few who actually make the effort the priority in their lives. the more one learns, the bigger the deficit between "caring for others equal to oneself" and the reality of how we treat others.

i would like to add that spiritual ignorance in the masses is god's current plan and his responsibility - so one can't really blame people for what they haven't been taught (and i mean on a deep spiritual level, not just words in a book).

god is fair - everyone will be taught his way of caring for others equal to oneself and given a choice to pursue that life of happiness, joy, fulfilment, etc. or to reject and and their consciousness - the only merciful solution to someone who would cause unhappiness, strife and division.

but god will do this in his time and in his way.

its admirable that you see the hypocrisy...

but then again, you would have to be BLIND not to see it (which might be why so many Christians dont).
