Mike,

Speaking of cranky people...here's a good editorial, IMO, about those cranky political pundits on the right by someone on the right:

nytimes.com

[snip]"The rise of Beck, Hannity, Bill O’Reilly and the rest has correlated almost perfectly with the decline of the G.O.P. But it’s not because the talk jocks have real power. It’s because they have illusory power, because Republicans hear the media mythology and fall for it every time."

How can it be a surprise when the owner of "Worldwide Pants" gets caught with his pants down?

I am not a major David Letterman fan. He does some very funny stuff, but it is mixed in with too much unfunny stuff, that he thinks is funny, for my druthers. The guy is single, but boinking women who work for you is still tacky. Even if they weren't "forced" or "coerced."

I no longer have a team in the hunt in college football. I always root for my alma mater's team, but they no longer have one. So, I root for my grad school, Penn, which is 1-0 in the Ivy League. But, still, that's Ivy League and I don't think they won any of the non-conference games.

So, I root for Cal, and they've looked awful. Then I root for Stanford, which has looked good, but they did lose to Wake Forest. Then I root for the best California team in the Pac 10, which seems to be none of them. Then I root for the best Pac 10 team, which seems to be Oregon and they've already been humiliated by Boise. Then I rooted for Houston and Rice, and UH just fell apart yesterday. Rice is waiting for baseball season. Then I root against Notre Dame and they seem to be snatching wins from the jaws of defeat every week. And I root against all of the SEC teams that are doing well, unless they are Vanderbilt.

So, I'm stuck with Ivy League and rooting against people. Oh, well, still fun.
