>I just assume Christianity is just as phony as Mormonism or Scientology - it's just had a couple of thousand years and periods of total political control to destroy all the conflicting evidence.<< the conflicting evidence is in the bible itself. in short, so few people read and/or understand the bible that they have no clue that what is taught today is often completely contrary to what's in the bible. for example, dante's eternal hell is taught as being in the bible. it isn't. the bible proves this in two simple sentences. the wages of sin is death (as contrasted to life): Romans 6:23 the dead (those who have died as contrasted to those still living) know absolutely nothing: Ecclesiastes 9:5 good luck finding any main stream christian church that believes this very simple bible teaching. the bible exposes many christian organizations as frauds. god said if they ate the apple they would die. satan said they wouldn't die (they had eternal life) Gen 1:2-5 they don't believe who they think they believe. again, this stuff gets complex and off topic - the whole reason for existing is to learn to treat people as well as we treat ourselves. that is the formula for long term happiness, joy and meaning in life. it is a law that is even more real than gravity. current human misery shows the truth of this law for anyone with eyes to see.
